Holiday Decor Favorites

by ourcontentedhome Leave a Comment

Christmas is my favorite time of year and I have gathered some of my holiday decor favorites to share with you.

I don’t usually buy a lot of Christmas decor each year, but I do pick up a few items to add to my collection. Since we just moved into our house a year ago, there are rooms that I needed to purchase decor for. I have found a few things that I am loving this year and added them to my Christmas collection. Since these items are timeless, you can pull them out year after year during the most wonderful time of the year.

Favorite Holiday Candles

The first thing that I am loving this year are these flameless candles. These are remote control and you can click the timer and they come on automatically. Since I don’t typically decorate with real candles I decided to try these flameless candles. They look like the real thing and are remote control, I knew that I had to try them. These candles are lovely with a wax finish and the wick looks real.

They are available in cream, white and red. I’m thinking about adding the red to my collection too. I use them in these candlesticks

I also use them in my vintage brass candlesticks.

Favorite Holiday Wreath

This wreath is probably my favorite wreath this year. It looks real and I just removed the red bow and kept the black and white bow. You could also remove both bows and add some beautiful velvet ribbon. Either way, you can’t go wrong with this wreath. It’s both beautiful and budget friendly.

Favorite Holiday Wrapping Paper

This year plaid is very trendy. I usually don’t steer to the trendy side of decor but since plaid is timeless, I jumped on the band wagon. I love the traditional colors of red and green and I plan to add some navy blue into the mix. The wrapping paper that I have is sold out but you can find some other favorite plaid wrapping paper here and here. This plaid paper will look great with brown paper and beautiful velvet bows.

Favorite Velvet Ribbon

Speaking of velvet bows, I also purchased some velvet ribbon to add to my packages. I am craving an old fashioned Christmas and velvet ribbon is essential for that look. Most of the velvet ribbon I bought was purchased in various places. I picked up gray velvet, navy velvet, a wide red velvet and a thin red velvet. I plan to add this ribbon to my Christmas tree and also to my garland.

Favorite Christmas Garland

Christmas garland is my weakness and I am always on the hunt for real looking garland. The real look is usually very expensive and sells out quickly. My sister and I found this garland at Hobby Lobby and we each grabbed two. I think it is going to be beautiful draped across my mantle with my velvet ribbon and ornament garlands.

This garland is sold out but you can find beautiful garland here and here.

Favorite Window Candles

To carry on with my old fashioned Christmas theme, I would like to incorporate window candles in all of my front windows. My sister bought me some window candles for my birthday and they are perfect for my Christmas theme. I wasn’t able to find the ones that she bought but I did find some other window candles here. I can’t wait to put these beauties in my windows!

Favorite Christmas Ornaments

Mercury glass is by far my favorite look for Christmas. It is beautiful and timeless and looks beautiful when the twinkle lights bounce the reflection off of them. They are magical!

have collected mercury glass ornaments for a few years and I like to purchase them when they go on sale at the end of the season. My goal is to have enough mercury glass ornaments to decorate an entire tree. I’m not quite there yet, but hopefully soon.

I spotted these mercury glass ornaments recently and I decided to order them. They are not very expensive and I was pleasantly suprised when I opened the box and saw these beauties. First of all, there are a lot of them. They are small an would look great as a garland, in a bowl or strung with velvet ribbon on a small Christmas tree. If you love mercury glass, you can not go wrong with these beauties.

That’s all of my holiday decor favorites for now. I’ll be sure to let you know if I find more that I had to add to my collection.

Which time was your favorite and what is your Christmas theme this year? I’d love to know in the comments.
